Each science on ice field trip is split into two: The first half of the session, students will work through a lesson combined with demos and experiments. The second half of the field trip is an opportunity for students to learn the basics of ice skating, and relate the concepts covered in the session to the actual skating experience.

See Class Curriculum

Each student is fitted with ice skates and a helmet, and a figure skating coach teaches the basics of skating, forward swizzles, and snowplow stops.

There is no fee for the field trip because the sponsors have provided an educational grant to cover the cost of the field trip.
